Right. How the fuck am I supposed to make her believe me after everything I’ve done?

“I’ll admit to being less than… ethical in the way I’ve done things, but it’s always been for you, Hailey,” I tell her, internally wincing when she bares her teeth at me.

She’s so fucking beautiful it hurts to look at her sometimes, and that fire inside of her is what’s always drawn me in.

At first, I had taken the deal with her mother as a way to kill the vile bitch without my father losing his shit. He wanted her and Hailey both to traffic, and I wouldn’t allow it to happen.

I don’t really care for bitches who sell their own children, but ‘buying’ Hailey bought me the excuse to have her father take her on the run. That then gave me the excuse to murder the fucking bitch who dared to sell me her little child in an attempt to save her own ass.

So many birds, one stone. Hailey was safe on the run from my father, well, me if we get overly technical, and I rid the world of the bitch because she pissed my father off. In losing Hailey, he no longer had a need for the mother.

“Less than ethical? You’ve tried to kill my father!” Hailey snaps at me, and I wince.

“Technically, Dove, the only time I’ve harmed your father was this last go around. The other men worked for my father. I did my best to keep you safe, which meant playing the bad guy. I never would have let them take you,” I try to explain, and she rolls her eyes at me. She has so much sass, it’s kind of adorable. “And as far as the most recent of events, my men were on their way to drop him at the hospital.” I shrug.

“That’s why they all said your name? Why we even knew who you were?” she questions, and Brendon pulls her closer. “And he wouldn’t have tried to run if your men had fucking said something!” she snaps at me, and I choose to move on.

“Until recently, my father believed I was still doing his bidding. That changed when I came here to claim you.” I take a deep breath. “After you turned sixteen, it became less about just protection, and more of an obsession. You have so much fire inside of you, Dove. You’re a perfect match for me,” I say.

Creed, the heathen that calls himself Wrath, growls. “Mine. Not going to tell you again, fuckwit. Mine, not yours. I’ll go down in a blaze of glory to shoot your sorry ass if you keep this up,” he snarls, and Hailey shoots over to him, slapping him.

“Creed, shut the fuck up! If any one of you assholes talks about dying in the next twenty years, I’ll fuck you up so badly you won’t be able to think of anything other than the pain I’ve caused,” she snaps.

She’s in love with them, and I know they’re in love with her.
